Shorted Transmission Line Fields

A voltage source V0 drives a lossless line segment whose far end is shorted. Move the source distance L and watch the electric-field and magnetic-field standing-wave amplitudes between the source and the short.

E(x) / E0 = sin(βx) / sin(βL)
H(x) / H0 = cos(βx) / sin(βL)
Zin / Z0 = j tan(βL), β = 2π/λ

Fields from the short to the source

The short is fixed at x = 0; the source is at x = L.
